TikTok Trends:
TikTok has taken the world by storm and continues to grow in users, constantly setting new trends. Influencers on TikTok are beginning to form groups of friends and popular users then moving in together. This has formed some popular houses like the Hype House, Sway House, Drip Crib, etc.. A lot of these feature users that have become popular whether it be for a talent or girls/boys thinking they are very attractive. Users I have discussed in projects for other courses like Charli D'amelio who is known for her dancing on the app has just reached 94.2 million followers at just sixteen years old. TikTok has flipped many peoples lives and businesses upside down.
Incase you live under a rock or just do not consider yourself social media savvy TikTok is a video sharing app originating in China. There are currently over 500 million active users on the app and continues to grow. The trends are always changing throughout the day whether it be a new dance or a sound users can role-play too. A scan feature on Tiktok has taken over the video feeds as users are testing how still they can hold their hand or attempting to make their faces resemble one of Tim Burton's iconic characters. Most of the time these trends seem to pop up out of no where users see popular users like Charli doing trends and follow suit. The idea of monkey see monkey do is very evident throughout the world of TikTok.
Another trend that has even Dr. Phil involved has users drinking Ocean Spray while riding on some form of transportation. Most have been using skateboards but others like Dr. Phil have gotten involved using things like golf carts. The video is filmed to the song Dream by Fleetwood Mac and is supposedly just to depict users "vibing" enjoying their day.
Even as a young adult I sometimes feel confused or often don't understand some of the trends. One good thing about TikTok is they put together a feed based on previous videos you have showed interest in. For example, your feed is labeled ForYouPage which couldn't be more true my feed is customized to things I enjoy like cooking, crafting, dog, makeup, and dancing videos. Popular users are also finding ways to climb the ladder of fame faster, even if that means dissing/undermining other users. For example, YouTuber Larray has switched over to TikTok and made a quick climb to popularity having over 17.4 million followers. He recently released a distrack labeled 'Cancelled' where he uses a song to point out other influencers and some 'shady' things they have done in the past. The video was posted on Sunday already has over 11 million views on YouTube.
These days it can be hard to keep up with things trending on social media or TikTok. Most times it's gone just as quickly as it arrived. If you don't have TikTok I could honestly say STAY AWAY from the app it will have you watching videos on accident for three hours straight when you have tons of homework.
