Hometown News:
The town I grew up in isn't all that exciting I will have to admit. The only reason some may have even heard of Vilonia, Arkansas is the large tornado that hit a few years back that killed over 15 people and President Obama flew in to our small town. With a population of 4,650 there isn't much news to report. With that being said I decided to do a neighboring town that is only about 15 minutes from my house. Conway has a population of 66,426 and has plenty of news to cover.
The Conway Police Department was finally able to find a man who was involved in a string of thefts that occurred August 17th through the 30th. The man was 23 year old Jonathan Tyler Christie who is a resident of Faulkner Country. Once in custody he admitted to stealing a multitude of items including two jet skis, two Honda four wheelers, a U-Haul dolly, and camping supplies. He was caught by Police after they were told to look for the silver minivan shown above that had been spotted in multiple thefts. He is behind bars with a $10,000 bond awaiting his appearance in court on September 14th.
The Department of Human Services employee must attend a court hearing when she did not appear at her last court ordered date for her domestic battery trial. Tiffany Bailey who is a local child abuse investigator had a criminal contempt charge filed against her. After she testified for the defense earlier in the trial she was asked to return for a rebuttal later in the evening put claimed she needed to pick up her 6 year old son. She was permitted to pick him up by the judge but was asked to return afterwards. She is being asked to attend court at 9:00 a.m. Thursday to face the charges.
Conway Police Department had been hunting down a pair of men who had multiple aggravated robberies between July 26, 2019 till September 4, 2019. The suspects identified were Deonte Smith and Deandre Stone two Forrest City citizens. They robbed a Domino's Pizza where three employees were locked in the walk in freezer while they emptied the cash register. The two men were armed and held a manager at gunpoint as he opened the safe for them. They then proceeded to steal anything from the employees including the Managers wallet. Other locations the men robbed include Dairy Queen, Popeyes, Wendy's, and a Citgo gas station. Both of them were formally charged in late August.
